Paradise Version! – A two level Lindy Technique Intensive Workshop with Kevin & Jo

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (4 hours of dancing/day)

Our Vision:  Lindy Tech is a workshop where a small group of dancers (15 couples max/level) come together to work intensively on improving their dancing from the bottom-up. For three days, we expect that you are prepared to work hard, are interested in fine-tuning your new skills during practice sessions, and are ready to delve into this magical thing we call Lead & Follow.

Content: They will be a total of 12 hours of classes with Kevin & Jo (4 hours/day) over the three days. As the theme of this year’s camp suggests, the focus will be all about partner Charleston technique. Kevin & Jo will dive deep into the mechanics of partner communication and the specifics of solo movement as it relates to Charleston styling, Charleston feel and the ever so important bounce (or pulse).

Application Process: Everyone will submit a video audition so we can verify which group to put you in. It should be a 1 minute 30 second video of you social dancing to a song 180 BPM or faster. Most people upload to youtube or Facebook and send us a link. (*If you’ve attended a Lindy Tech Previously, a video audition is not necessary because we already know your dancing.) Group 1 will be Intermediate/Advance Lindy Hoppers and group 2 will be Advanced/Advanced + Lindy Hoppers.

Lindy Tech FAQ

No, you do NOT need to sign up with a dance partner, but we want the numbers to be perfectly balanced so some preference might be given to couples.

Yes, each one of you must send in your own separate application. However, please let us know if you are registering with a partner as a dance couple. We cannot guarantee that both of you will be accepted, and if acceptance as a couple is a condition for you joining our workshop, please let us know in your application.

We’re accepting applications as long as we have space available. When the workshop is full, it will be stated clearly on the front page.

We will review applications as we receive them, and send out confirmations in the weeks following.

We want to see what your dancing looks like.  Ideally your video will:
 – be properly lit (vs being shot at night in poor lighting)
 – have a simple backdrop
 – include at least 4 swing outs
 – show full body (feet, hands, head, etc.)
 – be social dancing (instead of a routine…that’s a different workshop)
However, if the best quality video of you is during prelims at a contest, please tell us what you and your partner are wearing so we can find you. Otherwise, head to your local dance early (while the lights are still up), bring a partner and perhaps a speaker, and have a friend record you dancing  180bpm+ from a cell phone.
If you have trouble uploading a video to Youtube, please watch this How To. You are welcome to make this video PRIVATE  and then send us that link. If you have further questions, please email info@swingbreakmexico.com

Included are the classes with Kevin & Jo (12 hours over 3 days). Housing and food are NOT included in the workshop price.
